Colin Maclean is a freelance consultant and interim manager. He recently completed a commission for RAISE (Regional Action and Involvement South East) to carry out an independent strategic review.
He was employed by Kent County Council until September 2010 in a variety of senior management positions. His final position was the Interim Director for the Margate Task Force – one strand of the Kent Total Place pilot. Previous roles include as Director, Thanet Works and interim Head of Partnerships for the Kent Partnership (Kent’s county LSP). He originally joined Kent County Council as the Head of External Funding. In 2005, he was seconded to the Communities Directorate to lead the development of a new KCC strategy on working with the VCS.
He previously worked in London in a variety of senior management positions responsible for regeneration and housing renewal strategies and programmes in local authorities and with a City Challenge company.
He is a member of the Chartered Management Institute and his qualifications include an MBA and a BSC (Hons) in Town and Regional Planning.
He was the Chairman of the Margate Safer and Stronger Communities Fund programme and has held voluntary directorships with West Kent Xtra (a social regeneration charity) and on the National Board of Carr-Gomm. He has also been a school governor.
